Blood and Smiles

Today was a tough day.  Lila pooping blood.  It freaked me out to change the diaper and see blood, not a drop, but a significant smattering of blood amid Lila's normal diaper creations.

It was emotional to think that something might be seriously wrong with our little 2 month old.  I was upset and Christie was devastated.

We took Lila to the doctor's office today.  The doctor told us that the blood was most likely due to an allergy, probably milk or soy or both, though we're taking Lila to get examined by the GI doctor to make sure it's not something really, really scary.

So, we've switched Lila's formula to one that's supposed to be allergy friendly and we wait and see.  I do OK with "wait and see" but it's awfully hard on Christie, who desperately wants to fix whatever might be wrong with our baby.

While we had this really tough day of worry, Lila gave us a bit of a treat later on.  She's been giving smiles here and there, often at weird times of the day, or on her changing pad.

Today, though, while Christie was holding her, Lila gave lots of smiles.  A new twist on the smiling was that when you say her name, she gave her big gummy smiles.  It was lovely.  It even worked for me when I called out her name.  It was an excellent treat after a tough day.
